It’s not exactly a rival to the Mercedes G63 , but the Cadillac Escalade-V is the world’s most powerful full-size SUV. Because of this, the 2023 model of the utility should reach American dealerships for US$ 149,900 (approximately R$ 767,000) in the normal wheelbase version and US$ 152,900 (R$ 782,000) in the longer version. The information comes from the American website Muscle Cars & Trucks.
More powerful than the CT5-V Blackwing, the Escalade-V will come with a 6.2-liter V8 engine that generates an absurd 682 horsepower and 90.3 Nm of torque. Dubbed the LT4, the aluminum engine rocks a 2.7-liter supercharger, a four-lobe positive-displacement unit and 160-degree rotors. The charge cooler also needs to be mentioned, with the maximum thruster boost rated at 0.7 bar.
Utility accelerates from 0 to 97 km/h in less than 4.4 seconds
According to Muscle Cars & Trucks, a tenth of a second marks the difference between the standard and long wheelbase variants — which is understandable given the added weight. Cadillac expects the Escalade-V to hit 97 km/h in under 4.4 seconds and do a quarter mile in 12.74 at 117 km/h, based on initial testing by the brand.
In the new SUV, a press of the V-mode button on the model activates the V8 engine’s highest settings and triggers its launch control, which maintains the power unit at around 1,800 rpm. In addition, 80% of the Escalade-V’s torque is available from 2,000 rpm—similar to the initial boost of a powerful electric motor.
The car also has a 10-speed automatic transmission, developed by GM in partnership with Ford , and does around 5.1 km/l in urban areas and 7.7 km/l on the road. It comes with Super Cruise, the American automaker’s driver assistance system.
